THONG NGUYEN SCHOLARSHIPS
Thong Nguyen scholarships for the recognition and development of healthcare expertise
CONTEXT
Encourage the pursuit of studies and continuing education
In May 2020, following the death of an employee of the Jean-Talon Hospital, the Foundation decided to create a dedicated fund of $ 50,000. This dedicated fund, distributed in installments of $ 5,000 per year over ten years, will allow the establishment of five scholarships to encourage the staff of the Local Health Network Petite-Patrie (RLS Petite-Patrie) to start, continue or improve. health-related training.

THE PROGRAM
An adapted program
The main objective is to encourage the resumption or the continuation of studies and to create within the employees a feeling of belonging.
With the changing health needs of the population, technological advances, interdisciplinarity and the rapid integration of relief workers into care units, college training may not be sufficient. In addition, studies have shown direct correlation between the quality and safety of care and services and the level of training of nurses.
Thus, we would like the Thong Nguyen scholarship to be offered to employees of the RLS Petite-Patrie who wish to begin college studies in nursing or to improve their knowledge by seeking related university training (nursing, medicine, or other).

DESCRIPTION OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Awarded annually to five employees of the RLS Petite-Patrie who want to follow an academic training at the college or university level, these grants of $ 1,000 each are intended to encourage the continuous training of staff.

Who they are for
These scholarships are intended for employees in nursing, nurse, auxiliary nurse or PAB, employed at the CIUSSS for at least 1 year, in the RLS petite patrie-Hôpital Jean Talon;
This program aims to:
-
Motivate employees in their professional development.
-
Promote the quality of care and services offered to patients,
-
Help develop a feeling of belonging to the RLS Petite-Patrie and the CIUSSS du NIM.
on se retrouve en janvier 2025 !

Veronique Patenaude
nurse clinician
My name is Véronique Patenaude and I am currently completing a graduate microprogram in palliative and end-of-life care at the University of Sherbrooke. I signed up for this distance training because I have the well-being of the patient and those around him in the continuum of care at heart. I deepened my skills in the assessment and relief of symptoms in patients at the end of life. The acquisition of this knowledge is beneficial for better supporting patients in the evolution of their terminal illness. In the current context, I consider myself privileged to participate in the quality care provided by all the professionals working on the front line.

Hello, my name is Kevin Argueta Chavez and I want to thank you very much for granting me the Thong Nguyen scholarship for the year 2021. I am a nursing student at Cégep du Vieux Montréal. As I am currently enrolled in CEGEP for the fall semester, this financial assistance will greatly facilitate the pursuit of my studies. In addition, being a full-time student and an employee of the CIUSSS du NIM, this scholarship, at this point in my professional career, will be invaluable to me and allow me to focus more on my education.
With all my gratitude, Kevin.

Hello, I would like to thank the Jean-Talon Hospital Foundation for the Thong Nguyen 2021 scholarship. This scholarship will allow me to continue my university studies while relieving a financial burden, which is extremely appreciated given my new student status soon. 3 years. I have been working at Jean-Talon Hospital for almost 12 years as an auxiliary nurse, I will finish my DEC in nursing in a few days and I will begin my BAC in nursing in September. The purchase of my care books is planned thanks to this grant, which will allow me to greatly improve my care, increase my knowledge and continue my journey at Jean-Talon Hospital. Thank you again for contributing to this beautiful process.
